Creating Multimedia Activities for Language Learning (lang 4)
This course provides technical knowledge and skills about applications relevant to the development of multimedia activities for foreign and second language learning. It provides knowledge about sites with relevant information about the use of multimedia activities in foreign and second language teaching. It raises awareness of the pedagogical and methodological skills to effectively implement multimedia activities in classroom and to design web-based language teaching materials.
The idea of this course is "learning by doing" and "learning while doing": every day there will be workshop sessions. Participants will be actively involved and will develop - alone or in small groups - language activities and exercises for direct use in their lessons.
Applicant Profile
This course is intended for newly qualified and practising foreign language teachers interested in the possibilities of the Internet for their classroom practice. A basic knowledge of computers is necessary: participants should at least be familiar with Windows platforms and word-processors
Application
Comenius and Grundtvig in-service training grant applicants should submit their completed application form, a copy of a diploma demostrating the English language skills as soon as possible, and no later than 27 April, 2012. Fee Paying deadline: 15 August, 2011.

Computers: For this course, only the use of Windows computers is supported, there will be no facilities available for Mac users.
Fee: € 745,- (including course materials, welcome drink, access to the cultural evening programme).

Registration: Confirmed participants are expected to register between 12.00 PM and 17.00 PM on Sunday 21st of October 2012 at The Felix Meritis Foundation, Keizersgracht 324. The registration includes a welcome drink for the participants and tutors.
Accommodation: The University dormitories are not available for October. Therefore participants should make reservations in Hotels Bed and Breakfast, hostels or any other accommodation according to their wishes and needs. Work load: The course lasts for 1 week. It involves eight hours of teaching/sessions/practice a day, for 5 days a week. The lessons are scheduled 09:00 - 13:00. and 14:00 - 18.00 every day.

Geert Bonamie (Belgium)
Geert Bonamie (Ma Germanic Philology, Ghent University, Belgium) started working for the English department of Ghent University in 2003, first as a researcher, then as a teaching assistant, a position he currently still holds. In 2006 he combined this with a position in the IT department of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities at the same institution, where he is responsible for supporting and advising education innovation projects in the Faculty. He is enthusiastic about the integration and application of IT in education in general, and wants to share this knowledge with whoever is interested. For that particular reason, in 2009, he co-founded Let's Learn IT, a non-profit organization that is mainly occupied with offering courses about IT & education. Wouter de Jong (The Netherlands) ESL teacher
Wouter de Jong holds an MA in English Language and Literature from the University of Leiden. Wouter teaches English, coordinates IT projects and administers the Electronic Learning Environment at a Dutch grammar school. He also advices teachers how to implement IT in their curriculum. Wouter has been an assistant for the AMSU courses since 2010
Ton Koet (The Netherlands) - Teacher Trainer, Graduate School of Child development and Education, University of Amsterdam (UvA).
Ton Koet holds an MA in English Language and Literature from the University of Amsterdam, an MA in Anglo-Irish Studies from the National University of Ireland and a PhD from the University of Amsterdam. He is a teacher educator and works for the Amsterdam School of Education and the Graduate School of Teaching and Learning of the University of Amsterdam. He has taught a variety of courses in initial teacher education, ranging from English phonetics and phonology to the English speaking world and from 20th century literature to English for classroom management. He has been active in the professional development of teachers, organising numerous courses on new technologies in language teaching. He is a Life Long Learning expert.
